A leader in orchestral music in Northern Ontario, the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra performs a six-concert season to over 5,000 patrons annually at Glad Tidings Tabernacle (1101 Regent Street South), led by Music Director Dr. Victor Sawa.
In addition to its regular season, the SSO participates in a variety of free education and outreach initiatives, including Tunes and Tales (in partnership with the Sudbury Public Library), in-school presentations, and a Family-oriented Holiday concert each year. Combined, these initiatives reach an additional 3,000 participants in the Sudbury Community each year. In addition to its concert season and education and outreach initiatives, the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra also runs the Sudbury Symphony Conservatory of Music; a music school which provides professional level training to individuals and ensembles of all ages and abilities.

Described as a ‘rare and courageous talent’, Pandora Topp is a consummate performer, constantly seeking opportunities to learn and collaborate with others. Her collaborations have been featured at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, on CBC Television, CBC Radio and Radio-Canada, and have been nominated for the Governor General’s Award for Theatre. She has shared the stage with Michael Bublé, and has performed both for and with Margaret Atwood. This year she is featured in Ron Mann’s documentary In the Wake of the Flood and 2011 will see her in the world-premiere of Tomson Highway’s latest work, a one-woman show called The (Post) Mistress.
Having successfully produced 10 of her own touring acts, she currently leads The Giselles, an 8-piece bilingual pop act with horn section, touring throughout Ontario in 2010-11. Pandora is best known for her flagship production Café Piaf with Pandora Topp, a stirring homage to the late Parisian singer Édith Piaf. 2011 will marks the 12th anniversary of Café Piaf with Pandora Topp, featuring 1962 World Champion accordionist Iona Reed.
