The Spirit of World Drumming: drum circle fun for all ages

Discover your Spirit of Drumming with Jeff Stewart's drum circle. Participants play instruments from all over the world. No experience is necessary.

"It is my job as a facilitator to bring out your primitive understanding of rhythm and beat," Stewart says. "Everyone has a heartbeat and a sense of rhythm. The important element is the person’s keen interest in participating."

Stewart is a dedicated educator who facilitates drum circles in his community and at several music festivals, such as the Northern Lights Festival Boreal and Summerfest. He has also facilitated drum circles and clinics for the Rainbow Public School Board Music Task Force, the Laurentian Hospital Rehab Center and at Ontario Music Educators Association conferences. Currently, he is facilitating the Spirit of World drumming circles, a 14-year project that will provide people with a book and a DVD to help them discover their inner sense of rhythm and life.

For more information about upcoming workshops, or to find out about the circle, contact Jeff Stewart at (705) 671.6290 or [email protected]. You can also visit the website at www.spiritofworlddrumming.com.

The Craft Room 101

I have dreamt myself into opening The Craft Room 101 - a place where children can get to know each other, help each other and grow as artists, artisans and the crafters of the future. I believe as young people progress through life, drama, music, visual and digital arts provide avenues for creative expression and may help bridge differences among cultures and generations.

I've established a wide range of three-hour workshops that I'll teach year-round. Parents may choose to enroll their children in one or more of the sessions and may drop in any time during a lesson.

My name is Lise Aubin-Arseneau. I am Mtis. I live in Azilda. I have worked part-time for the Timmins and Sudbury school boards, Carrefour Francophone, ABC du Francais and College Boreal. I have participated in a variety of seminars, workshops and ceremonies, as both a learner and a teacher. Contace me at (705) 983.2040 (Paul’s Auto) and leave a message, or e-mail me at [email protected] for more information.

T. Beginner guitar lessons are also offered from September to May.
